Scouts / Pathfinders

The Scout program is also known as the Pathfinders. This section is open to boys and girls between ages 11 and 17. The emphasis will be in training through hands-on, outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, canoeing and backpacking. Pathfinders Troops will operate in Patrols of 6 to 8 members, led by a Patrol Leader who shares responsibility with an adult leader for discipline, activity planning and training the less experienced members.

The Pathfinder program is based upon Baden-Powell's Scouting for Boys and is similar in appearance to programs that were in common use nearly 100 years ago. Adult leaders are required to be Rovers who at a minimum have completed a Brownsea Rover Squire Training course. Additional training for new leaders will be made available as courses are developed.
